Supporting homeowners to reduce carbon and costs while improving comfort and health

We are committed to supporting homeowners in North Herts and South Cambs on their journey toward more energy-efficient, comfortable, and low-carbon homes. Our focus is on consumer education, personalised support, and community partnerships. As a cooperative, we believe in a collaborative, locally-driven approach and welcome involvement from residents, professionals, and councils.

Let's make our homes green…

Homeowners

Green Heat Coop provides independent advice to homeowners in North Herts, South Cambs, and surrounding areas. Our focus is on helping you reduce energy costs and environmental impact while increasing the comfort of your home.

Cooperative

Green Heat Coop is a non-profit cooperative. Members, including homeowners, tradespeople, and local organisations, own the business and set its direction. We believe by working together we can find solutions and share knowledge to get our homes ready for net zero.

Community

We are working with North Herts Council and community organisations to create locally-tailored resources and share information on home energy. We give talks for local groups and are developing a community retrofit guide for Royston and villages.

Making your home greener

At Green Heat Coop, we provide homeowners with the tools, knowledge, and support needed to switch to low-carbon heating. Our focus is on helping you reduce energy costs and environmental impact while increasing the comfort of your home.

Making Your Home Greener

We’ll assess your home and energy needs, and help choose the best options for your situation. We can advise on

  • heat pumps
  • insulation for lofts, floors, cavity walls and solid walls
  • solar PV and batteries
  • tariffs and control systems
  • finding an installer
  • troubleshooting existing systems.

Installation Support

We are not installers – our goal is to create a plan for your home that’s right for you. When you’re ready to move forward, we can connect you with skilled, pre-vetted local trades. We only work with contractors who will put the same care into your project as we do.

Access to Funding and Grants

Our advice includes information on available government grants, current incentives, and financing options for green energy projects.

We are building a community approach to reducing carbon emissions and enhancing home comfort.

A Community-Driven Approach to Sustainable Heating

At Green Heat Coop, we provide homeowners with the tools, knowledge, and support needed to switch to low-carbon heating. Our focus is on helping you reduce energy costs and environmental impact while increasing the comfort of your home.

Member Ownership

Our members, including homeowners, local professionals, and volunteers, are the foundation of our co-op. Each member has an equal say in decisions and contributes to shaping our direction.

Community Focus

All profits are reinvested back into the co-op, supporting our community education activities and development of tools and resources.

Our work with the community and local councils

We collaborate closely with local councils and community organizations to promote green energy and sustainable living. Our efforts include:

  • Partnering with North Herts Council to create an open source home retrofit guide specific to Royston and the surrounding villages
  • Running community workshops and events to raise awareness of the benefits of heat pumps and building efficiency improvements
  • Supporting residents, heating engineers, and building professionals in adopting and promoting green technologies.
